Large Ming dynasty jar with lion head handles and a cover

Condition

The old restoration is unsightly and failing on both jar and the cover . Break edges and rivet holes on the interior are stained. One of the lion head handles is partially missing. Inaccurate replacement knop on the cover . Cover has extensive fritting to the glaze around the rim .

Approach

Old restoration materials were removed and sections were thoroughly cleaned Sections bonded with water-white two-part epoxy resin The missing handle, glaze fritting and all the losses along the break lines were colour-filled, tight to the damage, in layers to match the porcelain Lost details were hand painted with acrylic paint
